Citadel is located in Charleston, South Carolina. Brandon will become a valuable member of the team under Coach Kriese. Brandon, in front of many of his friends, teachers and teammates held a ceremony yesterday at Memorial High School. Two of his personal coaches were in attendance and spoke on his behalf; Anna Hazlett, who has known Brandon since he began playing at age 5, and Ryan McDaniel, who has worked with and traveled with Brandon since he was 11. Brandon played just two years of High School tennis. As a senior Brandon advanced to the State Finals before losing to Patrick Fletchall (Carmel HS). Brandon and two of his senior classmates will continue to play tennis in college. Michael Koch has signed to play at IUPUI and Nick Johnson has verbally committed to play at Bellarmine University.

Lauryn, after several months of contemplating and weighing options decided to join Coach Keely Porter at USI. Lauryn is the third ETC player to play for the Screaming Eagles. Both Brenna Wu and Haley Jones are currently on the team now.

Lauryn expects to contribute right away next year. She is hopeful for a successful season as the team returns a few key members, while also adding three recruits.

Sharygin Wins Home National https://www.evansvilletennis.com/sharygin-wins-home-national/ Mon, 13 Mar 2017 19:23:26 +0000 http://www.evansvilletennis.com/?p=5475 Read More ...]]> Daniel Sharygin, Newburgh IN, won the USTA National Level 3 Boys 16s in January 2017. This marks one of many national events Daniel has won over the years. This was was paticulary special as it was here in Evansville. The Evansville Tennis Center is the first facility in Evansville history to host a USTA National Junior Tournament. Daniel paired up with another local standout, Aaron Thompson for doubles. The two won advanced to the quarterfinal round before losing to 4th seeded Matthew Halpin and Henry Ruger 8-5.

Daniel, who trains at both ETC and Tri-State Athletic Club, entered the tournament as the third highest ranked player. Daniel cruised through his first two match winning 6-4,6-2 and 6-2,6-0 respectfully. His quarterfinal opponent would end up being his partner, Aaron Thompson. After a tight 7-6(5) first set Daniel won the second set 6-1, advancing to the semifinals.

On the third day of the tournament Daniel  defeated top ranked Matthew Halpin 7-6(2), 6-2. In the final match of the tournament Daniel managed to battle and win a close one 7-6(2), 7-5 against number 7 seed Graydon Lair (Tulsa, OK).

Michael helped lead his team to another State finals in the fall of 2016.
